Exported Program, showcased fall designs in his first New York runway
    show

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, brought German designer
Marcel Ostertag’s Fall 2016 collection to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in
New York. As one of the four talented designers who won Cycle 2 of the
DHL Exported contest this year, the Berlin-based designer is benefitting
from the logistics and branding support provided by DHL and IMG to bring
his innovative designs to new international markets.

Ostertag’s 2016 Fall Collection was comprised of 60 looks on 18 models
who took to the runway at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square on
Thursday evening, Feb. 11. Ostertag, who had first shown his fall
designs inspired by “Rain” in Berlin in January, added another 26
outfits for the New York showing. “My collection will bring German
glamour to New York City,” said Ostertag.

“DHL is a longtime provider of supply chain logistics to the fashion
industry, and it’s important to encourage and promote new talent,” said
Bill Heaney, DHL vice president and Americas retail sector head. “The
DHL Exported program provides a unique opportunity for young designers,
already established in their local markets, to flourish on an
international stage. The program gives them access to the world’s most
powerful Fashion Week platforms to showcase their collections and kick
off the establishment of their brands on a global scale.”

DHL and IMG launched the DHL Exported Program in 2014 to support
designers seeking to expand across international borders. Designers were
invited to submit proposals to expand their business in four key retail
markets, with an export development strategy that included shipping and
logistics assistance, marketing, public relations, and social media
support. Panels of regional experts in New York, London, Milan and Tokyo
reviewed entries from designers in 36 countries.

For the winning designers, DHL Exported is sponsoring a fully produced
runway show for two consecutive seasons, as well as covering the
logistics costs of producing the collection and shipping the finished
garments to the runway in New York, Milan, London or Tokyo.

Past winners of the DHL Exported program have continued their march
beyond their home borders. Francesca Liberatore, an Italian designer who
was one of the DHL Exported winners in 2014, continues to show at New
York Fashion Week. Her 2016 Fall Collection debuted on Friday, Feb. 12.

The Cycle Two DHL Exported winning designers will feature their
collections for two consecutive seasons at New York Fashion Week, London
Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.
The three other DHL Exported winners are:

  • Sid Neigum, London Fashion Week
  • Atsushi Nakashima, Milan Fashion Week
  • Anne Sofie Madsen, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo
