Assange met with Ecuadorian foreign minister Ricardo Patino inside the the embassy in England, and then made the cryptic comments during a press conference, where he addressed reports from a British newspaper that he was ready to leave the embassy to seek medical treatment. Some reports say Assange has been suffering from high blood pressure and is in need of medical care. The 43-year-old, who is from Australia, pointed to the WikiLeaks spokesman in the back of the room when asked about this.

“He said I can confirm that I am leaving the embassy soon, but perhaps not for the reasons that (news media) are saying,” Assange was quoted by the AP.

Julian Assange has been trapped in the embassy since he sought refuge there more than two years ago, as Swedish authorities have a warrant for his arrest for two alleged sexual assault cases. He also faces extradition to the United States because of the release of secret information.

However, Assange refused to elaborate more on the cryptic statement.

“The plan is to leave as soon as the U.K. government decides to honor its obligations,” spokesman Kristinn Hrafnsson said, repeating a long-held position.
