Immigration activists in Tallahassee: ‘Drop The Lawsuit’

Young American Dreamers, an immigration activists group, rallied outside of a fundraiser for the Republican Party in Tallahassee, Florida this week asking them to “stop the attacks on immigrant families.”

The group was also expecting Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush, but they said the two “didn’t show up.”

The rally held Monday was part of the continued effort by immigration reform groups in the state of Florida that are asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to withdraw Florida from the lawsuit against DAPA & DACA.

The lawsuit involves a group of 26 states including Florida, led by Texas, who say President Obama overstepped his constitutional authority when he issued executive actions on immigration that could provide deportation relief and work authorization for up to 5 million people.

They are asking supporters to sign this petition using #DropTheLawsuit:

Using the the #YADisMAD, the group wrote on their Facebook:

YAD is outraged at the hypocrisy of Jeb Bush as he stated that if he’s elected president, he’d repeal President Obama’s executive orders that protect families! And Senator Marco Rubio, YAD is at a loss for words on how first you wrote legislation for immigration reform that passed, then stated that you no longer supported it.

The group held signs that read “Stop Investing In Family Separation,” “Deportations Destroy Families” and “Florida Fights For Families.”

The Young American Dreamers was founded after the December 2005 passing of The Border Protection, Anti-terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act.

Maria Isabel, the founder, organized a local effort to plan a march and rally in protest of the law which she saw as creating a new level of hostility & animosity towards immigrants.
