Actress and political activist Eva Longoria told the public at the Cannes Film Festival that a Latino president might be in the near future for the US.
The Hispanic Democratic leader believes its on the horizon for Americas political landscape, according to a report by the Associated Press. In an interview on Saturday during the festival, Longoria spoke about the Latino Victory Project, which she recently launched to help promote future and current Latino leaders.

She also said shes supportive of “promoting a pro-Latino agenda, pro-immigration, pro-education reform, pro-health care.
Longoria spoke on the U.S. immigration reform movement and her hopes to see a move in the right direction. She told the AP that although some members of Congress have blocked reform, shes hopeful that it will happen before the next election.
She emphasized that shes had a strong political voice long before Hollywood gave her a platform to express it. In other interviews she spoke about her involvement in politics long before being an actress, but its now that she has a platform to convey her ideas thanks to her name recognition.
Longoria insists she plans on remaining an activist but still gives a resounding no when asked if she intends to run for office. A decision many in Texas will hope will change as the elections draw closer.
Many say shes the ideal candidate for office. Native Texan, born and raised in Corpus Christi, shes part of a family that migrated to the area long before the U.S. was founded.
The actress also has many of the qualities candidates need to receive the citizens vote: charisma, intelligence, elegance, and a successful career that due to its public nature has earned peoples trust to see her deliver on what she promises.
All great assets that have also been cause for much criticism, considering that her career in Hollywood does not accredit her to run for office. Her response? Hollywood and acting is what she does, not who she is.
That means if youre a dentist, what do you know? If youre a lawyer, what do you know? Its our profession. Its what we do. Its not who we are, she said in a previous interview.
The past Desperate Housewives cast member is now the executive producer of Devious Maids, a Latina comedy-drama TV series, and the documentary on the exploitation of farm laborers Food Chains. Enjoying her time behind the camera, she told the AP she believes its important to “represent the right things in television or in film.
