Comedy
In the comedic area, the competition is tough with four-time winner “Modern Family” featuring Latina Sofia Vergara going up against “Veep,” “Louie,” “The Big Bang Theory,” and two new contenders “Orange Is the New Black” and “Silicon Valley” for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Both Taylor Schilling from “Orange Is the New Black” and Julia Louis-Dreyfus from “Veep” are up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series while “Modern Family’s” Julie Bowen, and Kate Mulgrew from “Orange Is the New Black” who plays the role of ‘Red’ are up for best supporting actress.
“Orange Is the New Black” is up for a total of 12 nominations.
Cuban actress Selenis Leyva who plays the role of Gloria on the hit prison show, tweeted out a picture of the cast celebrating all their nominations.

As far as the men go, the big competition seems to be between Jim Parsons from “The Big Bang Theory” and Louie C.K. from “Louie” for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
The supporting actors competing for the prize feature Ty Burrell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson from “Modern Family” along with “Girls’” Adam Driver who is nominated for the second year in a row. Our favorite Latina, Sofia Vergara, is not up for a nomination this year.
Drama
When it comes to drama, the show that shocked everyone with its latest finale, “Game of Thrones,” is competing against “House of Cards,” Mad Men,” True Detective,” “Breaking Bad,” and “Downton Abbey” for Outstanding Drama Series.
The lead actor category will be tough to call with names like Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Kevin Spacey, and Bryan Cranston all up for an Emmy.
Peter Dinklage from “Game of Thrones,” Aaron Paul from “Breaking Bad,” and Jm Carter from “Downton Abbey” are a few to look out for under the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.
Instead of premiering on its usual Sunday night, the show will be airing on Monday, August 25.
It will air on NBC from the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles at 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET).
