Eva Longoria and Ricky Martin launch The Million Dollar Race

It’s no secret that Eva Longoria and Ricky Martin are two of the most altruistic Latino stars. This week, they are launching The Million Dollar Race, inviting everyone to make a donation to one of the three foundations that will benefit from this year’s traditional Global Gift Gala.

How to participate on The Million Dollar Race?

The Million Dollar Race is an online fundraising initiative to raise money for The Eva Longoria Foundation, The Ricky Martin Foundation and the Global Gift Foundation. Their goal is to raise $1,000,000 before the arrival of The Global Gift Gala in London on November 17th.

Donating money is as simple as clicking on the “donate button” on The Million Dollar Race site and making your contribution via Paypal. Donations can be made with a minimum of just € 1 or $ 1 or £ 1.

The prize for the participants, apart from the satisfaction of helping others, is entry into the raffle with a chance to win a trip to London to attend the event as a VIP guest. During the Gala, Ricky and Eva will invite the winning guest to come on stage to present the check for the total amount raised on behalf of all the fans worldwide.

“We are very excited to launch the Million Dollar Race with Global Gift Foundation. This is an exciting opportunity for our fans as well as a serious initiative to help our foundations,” said Eva Longoria.

A course to train low-income Latino parents to help them understand class requirements, how to assist with homework and how and when to file college applications and financial aid forms for their children.

Micro-loans and business training for low-income Latina Entrepreneurs

Latinas are incredibly entrepreneurial, but often lack the access to capital and training needed to succeed. This program provides just that.

Extracurricular participation and mentorship tend to increase high school graduation rates for Latinas, so they are partnering with several organizations to provide these services to Latina students in Texas.

Multiple Sclerosis

Improving the quality of life for patients and families, they focus on providing mental health support and workshops on strategies to improve memory, communication, self-esteem, stress management, laughter therapy, etc.

Food for All

The province of Malaga (Spain) has been named by UNICEF as one of the poorest cities in Europe. Global Gift Foundation is setting up a program in collaboration with a local association of Malaga to help people with lack of economic resources to cover their daily food costs.

Children with Cancer

Project aimed at providing comprehensive support: materials, emotional and psychological support as well as financial assistance to children with cancer and their families.

Early Childhood Development – Mothers2Mothers

m2m works with HIV infected mothers and helps stop the transmission of the virus to their children. m2m will initially introduce this intervention in communities surrounding in Swaziland and Lesotho.

People for Children

The market for human trafficking consists of 27 million victims worldwide, of which UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million are children. These individuals are trafficked every year to work as forced labor, in the commercial sex industry, in prostitution and in other forms of slavery. Preventing traffickers is the Ricky Martin Foundation mission.
