Nicky Jam is set to represent all Latinos becoming one of many finalists to receive a YouTube award this year. That’s right, “Nicky, Nicky, Nicky, Jam” has nabbed YouTube royalty status, beating out favorites such as Enrique Iglesias, Romeo Santos and Shakira.

The 34-year-old urban singer is the only Hispanic ?among 50 finalists? to get the title at the 2015 YouTube Music Awards. Other global sensations in the list include Rihanna, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Pharrell Williams.

The Puerto Rican reggaeton star, who resides in Colombia, has brought much joy to the community and his fans with the news revealed by EFE.

“We feel proud to know that Nicky Jam is the only Latino among 50 finalists for the awards. This is the outcome of the hard work from the artist and his Colombian manager, who use the right tools offered by YouTube for his high position and global recognition,” noted a statement released by Google Colombia.

The awards will be handed to the 50 winners on March 23rd via a virtual ceremony. On the day of the event, fans will have the chance to enjoy 15 exclusive “behind-the-scenes” videos from Nicky Jam.

So how does YouTube narrow its massive list to 50 artists? It all depends on who’s following and watching these stars on the Internet.

The 50 celebrities made it to the list for having high subscription numbers and the most views on their videos.

For instance, Nicky has over 915 million views on his NickyJamTV channel and a total of 1.855.074 subscribers —numbers that increase each time.

Embarking his career in 1994, Nicky Jam is cataloged as one of the pioneers of reggaeton music.
