Top Mood Boosters
We’d all like to be happy all day and every day, but life doesn’t work like that. Our moods go up and down for many different reasons. Have a look at some of our suggestions for mood boosters, pick something you’d like to try and see how you can improve your mood today.
Work it out
One of the best ways to boost your mood is to exercise. It really doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do, apart from it has to be something you enjoy. There’s no point in struggling with something that you hate doing, as this will just make a dark mood worse. If you enjoy walking, go out to somewhere you haven’t been before and take in the sights. Fancy a swim? Then if the beach isn’t a possibility, head to the local pool. If you don’t want to go out, stick on a fitness or dance DVD. Gets the girls round for a dance off and that will surely boost your mood.
Rest and relaxation
Getting a good sleep at night will boost your mood the next day. If you are having trouble sleeping, take a hot bath or shower before you go to bed, and soothe yourself with a good book. Make plans for the next day, giving yourself goals will give you something to look forward to, which will boost your mood. If you feel moody during the day, take time out for yourself. Use deep breathing and other relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation to calm your mind. Laughter is also a great mood booster. Stick on a funny movie or a comedy DVD, sit back and laugh your bad mood away.
All about oils
Believe it or not, fish oils are mood boosters. Fish like tuna, salmon, mackerel and herring are rich in omega 3 which is known to aid depression. Including these types of fish in your diet or taking a regular supplement of omega 3 can help with long-term mood swings. Aromatherapy oils are really beneficial too. We can use our sense of smell to help calm us and uplift our moods. Essential oils like lavender, lemon, orange and rosemary are known for their mood enhancing properties. You can dab them on a tissue to carry around with you, or, if you are at home, warm them in an oil burner to scent your room.
Exercise, rest and relaxation techniques can boost your mood. Other mood boosters like fish oil supplements and essential oils can also help you to deal with mood swings on a regular basis. Include some of these things into your life and you will begin to feel much happier.
