Baptist Health South Florida and Leon Medical Centers/Leon Medical Centers Health Plans Establish Relationship
MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Baptist Health South Florida and Leon Medical Centers Health Plans (Leon
Medical Centers) today announced that they have established an agreement
for the 2019 Medicare benefit year, reflecting their shared commitment
to provide more choices for South Florida residents enrolled in
Medicare. This agreement will provide patients with greater and more
convenient access to the quality healthcare services they need.
Through this newly formed relationship, South Florida residents enrolled
in Leon Medical Centers Health Plans, a Medicare Advantage plan, will in
2019 have in-network access to care through many of Baptist Health’s
Miami-Dade County facilities and physicians including Baptist Hospital,
Doctors Hospital, South Miami Hospital, West Kendall Baptist Hospital
and Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.
“Each year, as patients review their options for Medicare Advantage
plans during open enrollment, the choices of physicians and hospitals
included in the various plans become a determining factor in their
selection,” said Brian E. Keeley, president and chief executive officer
of Baptist Health. “Our relationship with Leon Medical Centers Health
Plans and Leon Medical Centers is representative of our mutual vision
and commitment to improve the health and wellness of Medicare patients
in our community.”
“At Leon Medical Centers, we have admired and respected Baptist Health’s
commitment to our community as well as their clinical excellence since
we established our footprint in Miami Dade in 1996,” said Benjamin Leon,
Jr., chairman and founder of Leon Medical Centers. “Our organizations
share the same values and objectives when it comes to caring for our
patients and employees. We believe that innovation and collaboration are
essential in the healthcare industry, and now is the perfect time to
offer South Florida Medicare patients an opportunity to receive care
from two healthcare leaders in our community.”
Through this agreement, Baptist Health South Florida and Leon Medical
Centers Health Plans/Leon Medical Centers will work closely to improve
clinical outcomes and strengthen channels for care coordination for the
benefit of our patients. Both organizations are affiliated with Florida
International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, which
will also strengthen our ability to advance clinical research and
support the development of primary care physicians with specialization
in geriatric medicine.
