There are a dozen cocktails for every type of fruit we love, but what about watermelon? There’s strawberry daiquiris and mango margaritas, but when you stop and think of it, watermelon-based cocktails take a little brainstorming to name. What a shame, because when you think of it watermelon is one of the most lightest and refreshing fruits we have and when combined with some liquers, could be a combustion of taste and deliciousness. After much taste-tasting (*wink*), we list some of our favorite cocktail recipes to showcase watermelon.
How can your mouth not water just at the name of this drink? All three components on their own are savory enough, but put them together and it’s almost too much to handle! And making it is a breeze, too.
Puree watermelon and pour it into ice cube trays to freeze (around four hours). Once they’re ready, blend watermelon cubes with simple syrup (enough to taste), lemon juice, and vodka. Continue to blend until smooth, and garnish in some cute glasses with lemon twists.
A party is not complete without margaritas and a watermelon margarita isn’t just a party guest, it’s the life of the party. This is the simplest watermelon-based cocktail recipe for whipping up margaritas, but you can embellish with your own tips and tricks.
Blend watermelon cubes, then add tequila, Triple Sec and ice cubes. Continue to blend until smooth, then serve in glasses rimmed with course salt.
Maybe you never thought of mixing lemonade and watermelon, but just imagine bringing together the tartness of a lemon balanced with the light sweetness of watermelon. Now add some gin and you’ve just discovered what you’re going to treat yourself with the next time you do good.
In a blender, puree watermelon until smooth. Pour into a pitcher and combine water, vodka, and lemon juice. Mix well and chill (as long as you can stand it). Pour in glasses over ice. Garnish with mint sprigs, or hey, how about a small watermelon wedge?
Bellinis – are there any times they aren’t perfect? Add watermelon and now you have a watermelon-based cocktail you can serve at any engagement party, bachelorette party, bridal shower, or baby shower – the whole circle of life can have this drink in attendance.
Blend watermelon, sugar, juice, and one cup of wine until smooth. Fill your glasses with about half of the mixture and then top off with remaining sparkling wine. Garnish with lemon rind or small sliver of watermelon.
Thirsty yet? These watermelon-based cocktails will get rave reviews the next time you serve them up at a party. To really impress everyone, always be sure to chill the glasses you’re going to use, and avoid using large glasses, since these will warm your drink up faster. Assuming it stays that long in the glass!
