Real Madrid’s next market-buster: Luis Suarez for 110 million euros

Real Madrid grosses yearly revenues above 450 million euros and very happy to spend. If Gareth Bale was the great star last summer, when the Merengues shelled out over 100 million dollars for him, the next big move could be targeting Uruguayan sensation, Luis Suarez.

Liverpool’s striker is having a remarkable season and although he missed the first two months of competition as he was banned from EPL play, he has made up for lost time and currently sits as the Golden Boot candidate in Europe, having scored 30 goals in the local tournament alone.

His numbers this year are on par with Ronaldo and Messi’s, something he was battling for in the last few seasons. Suarez is now by all right a member of the top 5 players in the world, and Carlo Ancelotti knows that if he could add him to his team, Real Madrid would be nearly unstoppable on the attacking end.

The madridistas are more than happy with the performances Benzema has been putting out this year. The Frenchman has become key in the attack, not so much for his goals –although he has already scored 23 all season–, but because of how much he adds on in terms of style, pace and last passes.

However, Ancelotti knows that Luis Suarez could bring him the best of both worlds: be a true striker who can score upwards of 30 goals per season while also adding a lot in terms of team-play and pressure up front.

Now, the money situation is the other key point in the operation.

Liverpool was looking to sell Suarez last season for anything upwards of 40 million. Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all made bids for the Uruguayan, but the Reds decided to keep him for an extra season. And, boy, did they do well.

At 27 years of age, Suarez is the hottest striker in Europe, and after a wonderful season in which he could help Liverpool win their first EPL title in over 20 years, the Merseyside club is looking to cash in on their investment.

Suarez signed from Ajax three years ago when Chelsea signed Torres in the Winter Transfer Market. At first glance, it seems the Blues were getting the better part of the deal, but signing the Uruguayan for 23 million euros was, perhaps, the best move Liverpool could have made at the time.

Luis has grown tremendously each of the seasons he has been at the British club and aside from his disciplinary issues, he has never stopped scoring.

Real Madrid, knowing full-well Sergio Aguero is an impossible dream, will look to team up Suarez with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, and won’t turn down any figure thrown out in the negotiating room.

British tabloids have already mentioned a starting bid of 110 million euros, making Suarez the most expensive player of all time, over Ronaldo, Bale and even Neymar.

Real Madrid has the financial muscle to push for this signing, but does it make sense for the Whites to spend that much money on an attacker having already one of the top front lines in the world?
