Venezuela, land of beauty pageants, has named it’s newest king of the most beautiful gay men. Mister Gay Venezuela Luis Vento will now go on to compete in the Mr. Gay World pageant in August. (Mr. Gay Venezuela)

Aside from oil, Venezuela’s biggest export might be considered beauty, churning out many beautiful women who have won the title of Miss Universe and the beautiful men who represent the Mr. Venezuela pageant.

But a newer pageant also seeks to showcase more of the South American Country’s masculine beauty through a different lens; Mr. Gay Venezuela highlights the finest in gay men, and it’s new face for 2014 is Luis Vento.

The 32-year-old interior designer, is the latest winner of this pageant that has been held for five years now. The model will now fly to Rome, Italy where he will represent Venezuela in the Mister Gay World pageant from the 25th through the 31st of August.

Broadcast giant Globovision described the pageant on their website as: “The search for a spokesperson who proves their interest in advocating for the sexually diverse community on the planet.”

For this reason Vento had to polish his knowledge of human rights, civil unions, gay marriage as well as other topics having to do with sexual inclusion before competing.

But don’t forget the beauty portion; he also had to take runway modeling courses and prepared for the big competition by doing several radio interviews.

Luis Vento has lived in the US and also studied English, proudly calling it his second language. His hobbies are music, dancing, watching movies as well as exercising and spending time with family and friends.

He currently works as a visual merchandiser for a national department store chain.

The question remains, will Venezuela finally get a winner in this all-male pageant? So far only Ireland, South Africa, England and New Zealand, which has won twice, have held the title of Mister Gay World. The pageant has been held for five years now.
