With over 6,000 miles of gorgeous coastline and perpetual summer weather, it’s no surprise that Mexico is one of the biggest vacation destinations in North America, drawing millions of tourists to its pristine beaches each year. So if you are on the hunt for crystal blue water and white sandy beaches, look no further than Mexico’s five best beaches.

Cancun’s beaches can often get overwhelmed by the hoards of tourists that travel to its shores every year, which is why Playa Delfines is like a breath of fresh air for Cancun’s beach-goers. Playa Deflines provides an escape from the busy beaches near the resorts and hotels in Cancun, and you can walk the expansive sandy beach or swim in the waves without feeling claustrophobic like you might at Cancun’s more crowded beaches.

4. Balandra Beach – La Paz

There are few more idyllic beaches in the world than Balandra Beach in Baja California Sur. While its clear, calm turquoise waters attract many tourists every year, its 12 mile drive from downtown La Paz still makes it one of the more secluded beaches in Mexico.

At Balandra, you can spend an entire day relaxing on the untouched and undeveloped beach and swimming in the shallow warm waters.

3. Lover’s Beach – Cabo San Lucas

Playa del Amor, or Lover’s Beach, is located in one of Mexico’s most popular vacation towns, Cabo San Lucas.

The natural geography of Lover’s Beach is striking, surrounded by towering rocks that seem to jut out of the sea, and while this makes the beach dramatic and picturesque, it also makes it hard to reach.

To get to Lover’s Beach, you will have to take a water taxi or other form of water transportation to reach its shores. While there, you can rent a kayak to explore the beautiful jagged coastline.

2. Akumal Beach – Akumal

In between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, you can find one of the best beaches in Mexico – Akumal Beach. You can swim with sea turtles and enjoy vibrant coral reefs at Akumal Beach, as it has long been known as one of the best snorkeling spots in all of Mexico.

Families, couples, and solo travelers all make their way to Akumal Beach to enjoy its fantastic sea life, warm waters, and crisp white sandy beach in the heart of the Riviera Maya.

If you’re searching for a tropical island oasis that boasts aquamarine blue waters and beaches covered in palm trees, there’s no better spot in Mexico than Isla Mujeres. This island is situated in the Mexican Caribbean, just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Even though it is a quick 20-minute boat ride from Cancun, it seems worlds apart from the raucous and hectic resort town. Isla Mujeres provides a laidback, relaxing atmosphere and arguably the best beach in Mexico – Playa Norte. With clear warm waters and tranquility that you can’t find at most Mexican beaches, Playa del Norte is undeniably one of Mexico’s most beloved beach gems.
