Paulo Coelho to hit the US big screens in 2015

After defeating vampires and monsters in the classic 90’s show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Sarah Michelle Gellar is now battling her own demons in the flick “Veronika Decides to Die,” which is expected to make its U.S. debut in 2015. Based on the acclaimed novel by Paulo Coelho of the same title, “Veronika Decides to Die” tells the story of a young woman in her mid-20s who wakes up in a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt. As a result of her overdose, she has a weakened heart and only a matter of weeks to live. Ultimately, the young gal finds true love and an appreciation of life. The drama directed by Emily Young, was filmed in 2008 and released in 2009; however, it was only released in several countries overseas. Six years after its launch in countries such as Brazil, Poland, Sweden, Argentina, Austria, Mexico and Germany, “Veronika Decides to Die” is headed to select theaters in the U.S. Aside from being released in U.S. theaters, it’s also being released for VOD (video on demand) January 20th and on DVD on March 17th. Though the novel’s location is in Ljublijana, Slovenia, the setting of the movie is in New York. Like the book, the drama film is based around the subject of madness. The gist of the message is that “collective madness is called sanity”.
