Immigrants applying to become U.S. citizens must pass a citizenship test that asks questions related to American history and government, and now high school students in Arizona will be required to pass the same test to graduate. Here at VOXXI we wanted to quiz you to see how well you’d perform on that same test. The Arizona State Legislature on Thursday approved a bill requiring high school students to take the citizenship test. The same day, newly elected Republican Gov. Doug Ducey signed the bill into law. The proposal requires high school students to correctly answer 60 out of 100 questions on the citizenship test. Meanwhile, immigrants applying for citizenship are required to correctly answer six out of 10 questions. I think this is an education bill that brings our state together, Ducey said in a video shortly after signing the bill. It talks about the fundamentals that all of our children should know, and its a great first step towards educational excellence in the state of Arizona. In comparison, only 65 percent of native-born Americans can pass the test by answering at least six out of 10 questions correctly.
