Lupita Nyong’o, ‘Birdman’ and more at 2015 SAG Awards

Honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2014, the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) has 77 nominees in the fight for an accolade at this year’s ceremony. Iñarritu‘s film “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” with four nominations: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role – Michael Keaton Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role – Edward Norton Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Supporting Role – Emma Stone The 2014 dark comedy flick has garnered the Mexican director a Golden Globe and nine nominations at the upcoming Oscars, becoming the leading film with most nods next to “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” Other favorites in the SAG film category include “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Boyhood,” “The Imitation Game” and “The Theory of Everything.” The television category also has promising nominations including “Modern Family” for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The funny show, which features Sofia Vergara as the witty Gloria, is up for the title against shows “Big Bang Theory,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Orange is the New Black” and “Veep.” If “Modern Family wins, it will be the show’s fifth consecutive win at the SAG Awards. But the star-studded event is not all about the winners or losers, it’s also about the glitz and glam of the red carpet and who will be presenting. This year’s event will count with the participation of Jared Leto, Jeff Goldblum, Reese Witherspoon and our very own starlet of Mexican descent, Lupita Nyong’o, among other stars.
