Juanes’ confirmed to sing in Spanish at GRAMMYs

The first time Juanes was invited to sing at the GRAMMYs awards show was in two years ago, when he sang an English-Spanish version of Elton John’s “Your Song.” He’s been once again invited to join the biggest night in music, but this time, he’ll be singing one of his own songs in Spanish.

The Latin rock star told The Associated Press that appearing once again on the star-studded event is like a “dream come true.”

“I’m very excited. I can’t believe this is going to happen. You know, I’ve been waiting for this moment for many years and we are very excited now that it’s about to come, to happen,” Juanes told The Associated Press early this week in an interview at his recording studio in Miami, where he lives.

The Colombian singer, who won Best Pop/Rock Album at the 2014 Latin GRAMMYs with “Loco de Amor,” said he’ll be singing his most recent single which he wrote for the soundtrack of a Disney movie.

“We are going to perform a new song called ‘Juntos,’ or ‘Together,’ the song that we made for the Disney movie ‘McFarland, USA,’” he added. “So, yes, we’re rehearsing and practicing a lot, and just … (getting) ready for that big night.”

“Juntos” was co-written with fellow Colombian Fonseca and Cuban Descemer Bueno, under the production of renowned Dominican singer, songwriter and producer Juan Luis Guerra, also a GRAMMY winner.

Juanes is honored to form part of the movie out Feb. 20th and starring Kevin Costner. “It touched my heart in a very positive way, in a very deep way,” he said. “It’s a very inspiring story.”

As for his upcoming performance at the 57th annual GRAMMY Awards show, the AP reports that it may be the biggest Latin moment at the Grammys since Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony sang “Escapémonos” exactly 10 years ago.

The “Camisa Negra” singer is winner of two GRAMMYs and 19 Latin GRAMMYs and sees these kind of opportunities as a “big window” and “something very special.”

Besides his soundtrack single and GRAMMY performance, the 42-year-old is currently working on a new album and plans on embarking a U.S. and Latin American tour.

The 57th annual GRAMMY Awards will air Feb. 8th live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS.
