We’ve all been there: You get home from work and the house is upside down. If you are like me, you deep-clean once a week. The difficulty is, by the time a few days pass, your house is barely livable. By staying on top of the essentials daily, you can avoid having to do a massive overhaul at the end of the week. By completing the following house cleaning checklist every day, or at least two times a week, you will prevent a chaotic mess.

Bedroom

Making the bed may seem tedious, but it makes the entire room appear neat. By starting off with a made bed in the morning, you will be far more likely to keep the rest of the room tidy. Another important thing to remember in the bedroom is your clothes. While rushing to get ready in the morning, we often leave everything, from blouses to dresses, out-of-order. By placing them back where they belong, you can avoid having to rearrange your closet weekly. Make sure all dirty clothes are in the hamper and, if you are ambitious, prevent the dirty laundry from overflowing by doing a load as soon as the hamper is full.

Kitchen

The kitchen is often the focal point of a house. If you want to make the entire house seem neater, keep the kitchen spotless. Leaving a sink full of dishes can easily get out of control. If you cook, make sure to clean as you go; this will alleviate the cleanup required once the meal is complete. If you have a dishwasher and dislike washing dishes by hand, simply fill it with your dirty dishes and quickly get them out of the way.

Floors

The kitchen floor is the most important to keep clean due to high traffic and food spills, but keeping your floors clean is important not just aesthetically, but also for your health. Our floors are full of dirt and dust, but that’s nothing a vacuum can’t take care of. If you have the time, I encourage you to vacuum or sweep every day. If this is too much of a commitment, three times a week is enough to make a big difference.

Clutter

Mail, toys, and shoes are often left everywhere. By managing clutter every day and making sure everything is in its place, you can make your house look instantly cleaner. Whenever you enter a room and see something out-of-place, pick it up and put it where it belongs. If you are married with children, this is something the rest of your family should do as well. By making this a habit for the entire family, you can guarantee that the house will always appear spotless.
