5 reasons why Chicharito can be key for Manchester United

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez will most likely not play in Old Trafford next year. His time with the Red Devils has come to an end, and many other top-tier clubs in Europe will want to sign him if given the chance.

But before that happens, Chicharito has the chance to do something great for his club, and here are the five reasons why he can be key in the next few months for David Moyes’ squad.

1. Chicharito has not forgotten how to score

The Mexican may not be having his best season this year, but he has also not forgotten how to score. Hernandez started against Newcastle and scored his fourth goal in the Premier League. Whether you love or hate Chicharito, you can’t take away from him the fact that there’s one thing he knows how to and that’s put it past the keeper. Manchester United will need his killer instinct in the return leg against Bayern Munich and beyond this season.

2. Moyes is running out of options upfront

With Robin Van Persie out injured and Wayne Rooney most likely missing the return leg against Bayern Munich, David Moyes has pretty much run out of options to line up two forwards. Danny Welbeck being a non-negotiable option, the other spot should go to the Mexican striker, unless Moyes decides to get creative.

Giggs, Kagawa, Januzaj or Mata could line up behind Welbeck, and play with a 4-2-3-1, and Moyes could choose that line up to have better control in the middle against Bayern Munich, but moving forward, Chicharito could finally get his time to shine at United this season.

3. Chicharito is a fan favorite

Yes. He isn’t the biggest star in Old Trafford, but fans definitely have a liking for Hernandez. The Mexican has had a wonderful spell with the Red Devils, and he has scored some key goals in the last years that true fans will never forget. Because of that, and if Moyes wants to make moves that will be seen positively by the ticket-buyers, playing Chicharito would be a very smart option.

4. The Mexican has something to prove

If you are in dire need of results, like David Moyes is, you need players with something to prove. Chicharito sits in that position, and if these are to be his last minutes as a Man U player, he wants to go out with a bang. The EPL is quite far away, and the Champions League could still be a possibility if they can pull the miracle at Allianz Arena. Chicharito could really make strides if he plays at the top of his game, or rather, if given the chance to do so.

5. Adding something different to the mix

If something has been missing this season in David Moye’s squad it’s been that special player, a man who can add something different to a pragmatic group of players who haven’t been able to give fans many surprises. Juan Mata was shoe-in during the winter break because he fits that profile perfectly, and now maybe Chicharito Hernandez can a bit more pepper to Manchester United’s game in the last two months of competition and become that special player who can make the team really spike.
