Real Madrid got on the board in the 30th minute thanks to a great one-time finish by Ronaldo in the box. CR7 started the play on the right-hand side. He switched the ball to the left and found a wide-open James Rodriguez. Rodriguez passed it to Gareth Bale, who picked out Ronaldo with a perfect cross.

The 10-time European champions completely played Sevilla off of the pitch.

The Merengues kept pushing, but they would have to wait to get their reward.

The second half

Real Madrid continued their onslaught. Ronaldo scored his second of the night in the 49th minute of the match. The Ballon d’Or winner blasted a shot past Beto to make it 2-0.

Rodriguez nearly had his dream debut. That was his last meaningful piece of play in the match. He was subbed off in the 72nd minute for Isco.

Real Madrid is now looking forward to the start of league after starting off the season with a European title.
