Selena Gomez is in the headlines for health often because of her on-going battle with the autoimmune disease lupus, but the 22-year-old actress is also known for her Latina good looks and her amazing skin, hair and, well, everything else!

In a new interview with ITG, she reveals just what her beauty routine entails, and how her family has influenced her skin care routine.
“My nanna adopted my mother when she was young and then my mom had me when she was young, so were all kind of close in age,” Gomez said. “But even though my nanna is only in her late 50s now, shes taken care of her skin for as long as I can remember. She would always smell so good because shed wash her face with Oil of Olay, and then she would moisturize, and she would just lie down and go to sleep.”
When Selena’s mom turned 21, her grandmother passed along her Oil of Olay products, and according to Gomez, no matter what her mother decides to branch out and try new, she always returns to her skin care roots.
“And it must work because my mom has the most incredible, beautiful skin,” she said.

Selena’s own routine is slightly different, consisting of products from Clarisonic, Dr. Dennis Gross, First Aid, and Biore. “I like to have a good morning regimen. I use my Clarisonic in the shower with the Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Renewing Peel Wash. I do that maybe four or five times a week, so my skin has a chance to breathe before all the madness starts,” she explained. “Dr. Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster on your cheekbones and around your eyes helps make you look alive. But whats really great is First Aid Beautys Eye Duty Triple Remedyif you get dark circles, its the shit. Ill put it on, it feels all good and cold, go have a coffee, and thats the bomb. The Biore Deep Cleansing Strips make me feel really accomplished when I do them, tooplus they work!”
Skipping out on her morning routine can make Gomez feel incomplete, setting a negative mood for the entire day. She noted how enjoyable it is to have an hour to wake up without makeup on, enjoying a cup of coffee.
And speaking of makeup, Selena Gomez reminds women that less is always more. Not only does your skin stay healthier without layers and layers of stuff caked on top of it, but the camera loves a natural look more than a made-up one.
“If I want to be really bronzed, I use Tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serumall over my face,” she said. “It has a little tint in it, but it doesnt smell for days like self-tanner does. And because its a serum, it doesnt make me break out. I never wear lipstick or lip gloss in my normal everyday life, but I do put the Fresh Sugar Lip Serum on morning and night to keep my lips hydrated. If Im going into a meeting or something, I do the Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer as a pretty top-coat over a little Nars Lip Pencil.”
Beauty isn’t just about the face, and Selena indicates she likes to take her time in the shower to pamper her body with the beneficial steam. Care2 explains steam frees up the body’s airways and thins out mucous membranes, also opening up pores and helping the body expel toxins.

“I like to take my time in the shower and turn it into a steam roomright now Im using The Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sugar Eucalyptus Tea Scrub and USPA Mud Therapy Complete Body Rejuvenator,” she said. “Its so funny, when you use it your whole body looks like its covered in mud. So I put the shower on really hot, I put the scrub on, use this scrub brush from The Body Shop, wash that off, and then Ill put the Mud on and sit and let it all soak in. Maybe Ill shave with the EOS Moisturizing Shave Cream, which is nice because it isnt too thick.”
And last but not least, when the day has taken its toll, Selena Gomez helps her sore muscles by treating them with Handheld Heat Muscle Balm by Sumbody or Still Standing Pain Relieving Spray.
