You see, Lamela is a 22-year-old soccer player born in Buenos Aires, Argentina who is an attacking midfielder or winger for English team Tottenham Hotspur and the Argentina national team.
Prior to his new club, Lamela played for Argentina’s River Plate and Italy’s A.S. Roma.
The young –and must we add, sexy– athlete was all the rage Thursday after scoring an unbelievable “rabona”-style goal during Tottenham’s 5-1 win over Greek side Asteras Tripolis.
“Rabona” is the name given to the soccer move when the player wraps one leg around the other and kicks the ball –and that’s exactly what Lamela did, wrapping his left foot around his right leg to curl the ball in from 20 yards.
“It was a great goal, maybe the best by one of my players,” said head coach and former Argentine soccer player Mauricio Pochettino, who only shows emotion at home and in his bed, according to BBC Sports.
His teammates and soccer fanatics all around the world praised Lamela’s “rabona” move and even consider it one of the best goals of the year.
With no further a do, here are some fun facts we found on the six-feet-tall soccer player.
