The new Tesla car model is ‘insane’

Does a car really need an “insane” mode? When it’s a Tesla, it sure does. The new Tesla all-wheel drive Model S P85D is a $120,000 electric speedster with a 221-horsepower front motor and a 470-horsepower rear motor. SEE ALSO: GM’s new electric could upstage Tesla Hitting this mystical “insane” button engages both motors at the same time and accelerates the car from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. It’s guaranteed to give quite the scare to any unwary passengers if you happen to forget to mention this mode to your friends and family. Tesla founder Elon Musk wanted to convince car buyers that electric vehicles could be quick and powerful too so the car can also reach top speeds of 155 miles per hour. In a video uploaded by Brooks Weisblat from Dragtimes, first-time riders experience the car’s rapid acceleration. Screams, curses, expressions of excitement (or is it terror?) are the norm as everyone is blown away by this new car’s insane mode. Weisblat, however, remains cool and collected the entire time, assuring his passengers that the rapid acceleration is quite safe indeed. “With 0-60 MPH coming in just 3.1 seconds along with no audible clue of what’s about to happen, the aggressive launch brings out some very interesting and funny reactions, including a flying iPhone that gets stuck to the back seat from the G Forces,” Weisblat wrote on his blog.
