It’s been almost twenty years since Latino director Gregory Nava opened the doors to Jennifer Lopez’s stardom after casting her for the starring role in the “Selena” biopic. Now, the two colleagues meet again for a new project.

No, it’s not another movie about the “Queen of Tex Mex” ?though we can’t get enough of J.Lo’s impeccable work in the 1997 flick. In fact, both talents are reuniting for an upcoming television series.

Nava, of Mexican and Basque heritage, is teaming up with Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Sony Pictures TV to give life to a NBC limited series called “California.”

The TV show, which will indeed be called “California,” tells the history of the U.S. state. The project idea came from  Lopez’s producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.

According to Deadline, the story was pitched to Nava and his collaborator Barbara Martinez-Jitner “about tracking a fictional Latino family and their journey over 200 years in California from Spanish, to Mexican, to American rule.”

Both Nava and Martinez-Jitner, natives of California, will write the event series –which is now in development. Nava will direct the series.

Deadline also reported that the two colleagues “went on to create a sprawling story interweaving historical characters and events, which follows a family across eight generations.”

Besides “Selena,” Lopez and Nava have worked alongside in many of Nava’s movies such as “My Family” and “Bordertown.” The two have kept in touch throughout the years.
