Sadly it’s been a year of extreme violence for many parts of Latin America, capitulated by the disappearance of 43 college students in Mexico, who authorities say were murdered and their bodies burned, but there were also many beautiful sights and even victories to celebrate the biggest events in Latin America 2014. Biggest events in Latin America for 2014 Mexico mourned the loss of Roberto Gomez Bolaños “Chespirito” one of the biggest comedic geniuses of all-time, but they also celebrated a small victory in the World Cup when they beat Croatia in the group stage. However,  Brazil suffered its worst World Cup loss ever, and to add insult to injury, it occurred on their own home turf. Lawlessness & cartels in Mexico For years cartel violence has ravaged Mexico, and especially the State of Michoacan. Police are often absent to defend citizens, or can’t be trusted, so citizens have resorted to vigilante justice, trying to keep order and peace, whichever way they can. The Self-Defense Council of Michoacan and other groups have also been accused of perpetuating the same crimes they claim to defend citizens’ against–sometimes acting as organized gangs.
